In 1991, a family dream became a Castle Hill reality. What started as a small dining room with big flavours quickly earned a loyal following — and never looked back.
Over three decades, we've grown from one restaurant to two — but the heart of what we do hasn't changed. Every curry is still made with the same passion. Every guest is still treated like family.
Maharaja's is more than a restaurant. It's where birthdays are celebrated, where anniversaries are marked, where Friday nights begin. We're proud to be part of so many memories across Sydney's Hills District.
Meet Mohan
The Story Behind Our Tiger
In 1951, the Maharaja of Rewa came across a tiger cub unlike any other in the Bandhavgarh forests — fur as white as moonlight, eyes of vivid blue. He was named Mohan, and brought to live in a sunlit courtyard of Govindgarh Fort.
Mohan alone survived — and it is said that most white tigers found in zoos around the world today are his descendants. His story played a role in inspiring Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to declare Bandhavgarh a National Park, helping secure a haven for the Royal Bengal Tiger.
Our tiger is our tribute — not just to a single animal, but to all tigers, past and present; in the wild and in legend. He stands as a majestic figure, defined by fierce spirit, striking allure, and unmistakable elegance. We named him Mohan.
